Pricing
The 2023 Volkswagen Atlas is more expensive than the 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan, but we are sure you already knew that.
Both SUVs are available in Trendline, Comfortline, and Highline versions, while the Atlas comes in the even more luxurious Execline model. Tiguan starts at $33,695 and comes standard with all-wheel drive, while Atlas starts at $40,895. Execline Atlas models start at $57,295, while Tiguan Highline models start at $43,695.
Interior space
The 2023 Volkswagen Atlas has more cargo space when all seats are in place and the rear seats are folded down. In comparison, the Tiguan offers 1,065 liters of cargo space behind the second row seats while the 2023 Volkswagen Atlas as over 1,500 litres behind the second row. When the rear seats are folded, the Atlas has 2,781 liters of cargo space, while the Tiguan has 2,081 liters.
In terms of interior features, the two SUVs are similar. In the second row, the 2023 Volkswagen Tiguan has a bit more legroom than the Atlas, with 963 mm vs 955 mm. Compared with the Atlas, the Tiguan actually offers more interior space.
Performance
A 2023 VW Tiguan's engine offers 184 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque, making it one of its segment's most impressive engines, and certainly one of the most powerful. The compact Tiguan is distinguished by its impressive torque, impressive accelerations, and its passing performance that is, well, impressive! That said, the Atlas comes with two engines and both offer a ton of performance as well. A standard 2.0-litre turbo delivers 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque while the most powerful V6 offers 276 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque.
Fuel consumption is higher on the Atlas, given its higher power. The Tiguan averages 10.6 liters per 100 kilometers in the city and on the highway it averages 8 liters per 100 kilometers. The Atlas averages 11.5 l/100 km in the city and 9.5 l/100 km on the highway with the 2.0-litre turbo while the V6 averages 13.8 l/100 km in the city and 10.2 l/100 km on the highway. There’s no doubt the Tiguan is the more efficient option of the two.
